Dear Mary, I am sorry but what I had on my posting, is about all I know about Christian Wampole--born in Pennsylvania per dtr. Mary McAfee Rauch's death cert. (didn't have that cert when i wrote, just family general knowledge, she was called Teeney and on Mary's death cert. Mary's son gave the name as Teeney Wampole and father (Teeney's husband) as William McFee. Mary was born in Oct 1812.
I have got a copy of a note forwarded in 1983, to a cousin of my mom's from the Wyoming Historical and Genological Society, 49 S. Franklin St., Wilkes Barrie, Pa, 18701 (I only know of a Wilkes-Barre, PA.) The letter was from Katheryn Walters(Mrs. R.H.) 6383 Fenton Rd. Flint Mich, 48507.
[This was sent to our family as we are relation to Uplingers and Wenners, and she had those in her family (at least the Wenner-our Elizabeth Jane Wenner married Henry Oplinger(Oplinger. Their daughter, Sarah Jane married Chester Butler Rauch, bAug 6,1849, son of Christian Wampole and Daniel Rauch,Sr. {This is the only place I have ran into the name Butler, except that Elizabeth Jane Uplinger;s mother, Catherine was living in Butler Twp., Luzerne Co. PA. in 1850 census.]
now to the letter, it asks about a different (see dates and spelling) Christianna Wambold (another of our Wampole spellings though) b. 1803 and married George Wenner, b. 1896 in Pa, and was hunting proof that this was the 4th son of Christian Wenner, who died in Butler Twp. Aug 3, 1834, buried in St John;s Union Cemetery and his wife's name was Barbara.
There is probably some relationship on the Wenner side but not sure as some of the listings where I found Wenners states there were some others in same town ours were, and some only had kids 1st names. Closest to the Christian's son, George is a George b. 1894 and he was a 3rd child, second son, if they had all the info. This sight is by Sarah Swisher- http://community-2.webtv.net/sarahswisher/SarahsFamilyTree/
I will try to write her and see if she has had any Wampoles show up. It was not on her original site but she added some as info was given to her. I will keep a copy of your note and let you know if I find further info on the Wampoles. Patti
