The York Wambaughs are not mine, but it seems overwhelmingly likely that Wanbach is merely a variant spelling of the same name, and that your ancestor may be part of this family. In hunting my Wambaughs in NJ, I have encountered these spellings for members definitely of the same family: Wombach, Wombaugh, Wambaugh, Wombock. The standardization of surnames seems to be a phenomenon of the 19/20th centuries.
