Virginia Evelyn WALTHALL was the second wife of my greatgrandfather Francis Marion BLYTHE. Marriage records of Washington County, TX shows marriage document for F. M. Blythe was issued on 12/26/1867. See Volume 3, Page 58. Virginia Evelyn' first husband was John J. Walthall who is believed to have been an innkeeper.Page 193 of the 1860 Federal Census for Amelia County, Virginia, taken on July 6, 1860 indicates that John J. (age 29) was an innkeeper. At the time of the census in the household were Virginia E. (age 29), Emma R. (age 4), Carrie H. (age 2), and Kate I. (age 6 months and 13 days).
The June 5, 1880 Washington County, Texas, Census, ED 139, line 36, Dwelling 132, Family 139; indicates that Virginia Blythe was born in Virginia. She was 48 before June 1, 1880, was a widow and was living in Justice Precint 1 of Washington County. Virginia's father and mother were born in Virginia. Living with Virginia E. were:
William Blythe ; son ; born in Texas ; 8 years old
Mary (L. ?) Blythe ; daughter ; born in Texas ; 5 years old
Emma Walthal ; daughter ; born in Virginia ; 24 years old
Catherina Walthal ; daughter ; born in Virginia ; 20 years old
Virginia's occupation is listed as "Keeper of Toll Bridge".
Does anyone know the maiden name of Virginia Evelyn or the parents of her and John J?
