Hello, Thank you for responding to my query. I don't know where William came from. Walters is not what I would call a "local" name in old Stafford. According to the land tax records, they lived up on Chappawamsic Run, the border between Stafford and Prince William counties. There were quite a few of them--the ones listed in the militia records were: Bladen 1803 Juniper 1826 Landon 1814 Mark 1797 Mason 1815 Seymour 1826 Silas 1803 William 1827 The year following each name is the year the man was listed in the militia records. I know nothing about this family and haven't come across them in over 20 years of working with Stafford history. I don't know where they came from and I've tried Googling them with both Prince William and Stafford. Many of them have given names unique enough to be recognized by someone doing family research, but I've had few responses on them. Do any of the other given names in this group match with your family in Pittsylvania? Sincerely, Jerrilynn Notify Administrator about this message?
