Looks like our threads got knoted. The problem is the close proximity of our two Walter families.I have been working on this problem for over 15 years and it still causes confusion.I will try to differentiate between the two by lettering them A & B.
1.Both families lived in the same location at the same time. (Northampton Co. PA, 1820 to probably the present time.)
2.Both families married into the same families. (Gress, Odenwelder and others.)
3.Both families liked to use the same given names. (Michael, John and Henry are notable examples.)
A. The immigrant Walter, Bernard, m. Eva ?. His family is the most prominent. His son Michael m. Anna M. Buss.Among his children was a son named Henry, birth date and wife unknown. I have researched this Henry for many years trying to connect him to my family.I finally had a YDNA test done using my results compared to a known descendant of the Bernard Walter line. The results were: NO MATCH
B. My Henry Walter came to Northampton Co. PA in 1820.He married Catherine Grace/Gress.Her parents were Michael Grace and Elizabeth Margaretha Odenwelder. My Henry was said to be from Sussex Co. NJ but I can not find his parents.
Leetha: I have Sara Jane Rought married to my John Gress Walter.John was b. 13 Nov. 1811 in Hamilton Twp, Northampton Co. PA. He is the second son of my Henry.
Any Walter researcher who wants information about my family may contact me.
