Seeking WALT Family ancestral connections to my Great Grandfather Peter Edwin Walt 1855-1950, b. Liverpool, Perry County, PA from anyone doing primary research on WALT in south central PA. Peter's death certificate indicates father Henry Walt and mother Sarah Keiser. Variation of name could be WALDT. May have had a brother Johnson Walt and a sister Jane Walt. Peter grew up in Liverpool, Perry County, PA. Later lived in Harrisburg, Dauphin Co., PA. Went to work from Liverpool, around age 9 (1864)on a "cousin's" (David Walt)canal boat shipping between Columbia and Nanticoke(PA)on Susquehanna River branch. His mother was then living. Henry Walt found in current sources in cemetery records in Liverpool, Perry Co. died 1853, before Peter's birth 1855. The name OLIPHANT could be associated with this family. This line of Walt Family tended to evade census takers. Perry County in mid-19th Century was real "outback". And, the county courthouse in New Bloomfield PA, burned down in 19th century eradicating most every county record.
