I haven't learned much since posting this query. George Walsingham Minchener was born Oct 1894 in Detroit, Wayne, MI to parents Arthur Minchener and Isabelle Smith. According to the 1900 census, George at age 5 was living with Frederick W. Fairbairn, an uncle. I didn't find Arthur and Isablle in the 1900 MI census.

I believe Arthur's father was also named George Minchener. He was a vestryman for many years at an Episcopal church in Detroit. That's all I have. No connection yet to the Walsingham name.
