Richard Walsh/Kate Ryan to Asphodel 1845
I'm inserting this notice again just to update. The original mention is now back on page 10 :
Richard and Catherine had an even larger family after they moved to Asphodel and the Walsh's are still living in the area of Hastings village and Asphodel township today. I know there are many out there with ancestry back to this family, or the other Walsh family that settled in Asphodel even earlier with the Peter Robinson emigration of 2000 Irish from southern Ireland to the Ottawa and Peterborough areas in 1823 and 1825 respectively. David Walsh, the son mentioned above in fact married Elizabeth Driscoll and she was the daughter of John Driscoll and Mary Walsh both of whom came out in 1825 on the Peter Robinson emigration. Mary's parents were Richard Walsh and Elizabeth (last name?). John's parents were Denis O'Driscoll, who settled in Ennismore, a township to the west of Peterborough. When John grew up he moved to the Hastings village area and became a shoemaker, living in various places in Asphodel township and in the village and very much a part of the early history of Hastings village.
If you think any of these Richard Walsh families are your ancestors let me know.
