William Walraven b.1813 and Martha B. William is son of Archibald Walraven b.1787 and Mary. William Walraven moved to Paulding County as did Peter Walraven, as did James M Walraven, as did Malitia Walraven Johnson.( My family and I live on the land that James M Walraven bought after he sold Archibald's farm in Sandtown (now between Powder Springs and Smyrna, Cobb County)in 1867. My Uncle Talmadge Walraven lives on the land that James M Walraven gave Malitia Walraven Johnson 1875). Archibald is son of John Walraven and Elizabeth married in Va. There is a marriage bond for John Walraven and Elizabeth Whyte in Whyte County, Va.
John Walraven, Jr had already married before 1790, therefore I would assume 1766 is an accurate birthday. By the way, John Walraven was in the Malitia of Augusta County, Va in 1768 and is listed in Dunmore's War, so John, Jr would be born in Augusta, Va. John, Jr's wife is listed as Indian. Most records I have looked at show the children of John and Elizabeth Walraven were born in North Carolina. I can not verify this.
The reason I mention John, Jr's wife as Indian is that earlier someone had claimed the originial John's wife was Cherokee, John,Jr's wife was Indian, William's wife was Indian, Isaac's wife was Indian, and Archibald's wife Mary was Indian. After some research, I know this. The Cherokee's ranged from what is now West Virginia and Virginia down through Eastern Tennessee and Western North Carolina and Western South Carolina to North Wester Georgia and North Eastern Alabama.
Yes, their wifes could be Cherokee.
Yes, the children were probably born in North Carolina between 1783 and 1790.
1790 John Walraven is in Abbeville, South Carolina.
During this time frame some of the States had stopped counting anyone living with Indians. For example, William Walraven is listed as getting married one year earlier, but is not counted on Census, even though his children are counted. Another example, the Tax Man did not levy a tax on Indian property at this time unless the Indian willingly obligated himself to pay the tax.
