John I. Walradt in 1807 purchased part of lot 74 in what was to become Granby, Oswego Co., NY. On 18 June 1818 a town meeting was held at John's house where he was elected an assessor. Of German descent John was b.26 Aug. 1782 in Canajoharie, NY. He was a Lt. & a Capt. in the War of 1812. In 1801 he had married Lucretia Hugunin, daughter of Daniel Hugunin, a part German, Part French family. They had 3 daughters: Gertrude, Mary and Ellen Eliza. Gertrude died in 1875.
