Here's what I have so far:
My g. g Grndfather was Robert Walpole, blacksmith and county Sheriff, b 10 Aug 1832, Yarmouth England, D. 15 Nov 1920 Scotch Plains, NJ.
He married (1) Sarah M. Fatoot 7 May 1855, Westfield, NJ
They had the following Children:
Lydia(1856-1898), Lynus(1859-1916), Harriet(1861-1925), Mary Ellen (Ella)(1865-1943), Almira(1867-1931), Susan (1872-1940), Sara (1874-aft. 1943) and Robert Jr(1883-1942).
He married (2) Ann Dobbing, a widow in 1905. No children.
Robert was about 8 when he immigrated to US in 1840. He had a brother, Samuel, also a blacksmith, born about 1844, who married Almira Purdy 1870 in Bronx, NY. They had no children. Robert and Samuel may have had a 3rdolder brother but I have no evidence other than family hearsay.
Both brothers were Civil War veterans and received pensions. Robert was captured twice, escaped once to be recaptured. He claimed to have been permanently disabled by his time spent in Andersonville, applied for a disability but was denied.
Any connections with your side?
