Hi,

In family papers we have a will of Mary Walmsley, I believe born 1763. The beneficiaries were her son George Walmsley, her brother John Sherratt the Elder of Ash, and her sister Eleanor, wife of Robert Gough of Besford, Salops. John Sherratt also had a nephew, Oliver Gough.

My great-grandmother, Mary Ann Walmsley (b. 16.7.1827) married my great-grandfather William Nield. We believe Mary Ann Walmsley had a cousin, Emma Walmsley, born 1841.

We haven't pinned down yet how Mary Walmsley fits in. She is not the mother of Mary Ann.

At present we believe Emma's father was George Walmsley (b.20.9.95). Emma's brother was George Walmsley (b.1830), who was the father of John Walmsley (b. 1867), Bishop of Sierra Leone.

Does Gilbert Gough Walmsley or your Emma fit in with any of this?

Roger Nield
