I think there is a connection between your Cope and Walling families.I am descended from a Morgan Bryant, born 1778.He died in White County, TN in 1817.He also had a son named Morgan W. Bryant.I know that my Morgan "Sr." had some land dealing with a member of the Cope family in White County.Wallings were also close neighbors and Bryant's and Walling's married into each other's families.
The problem is that I don't know where my Morgan came from.No records of his birth location can be found in White County. His wife is believed to be a Walling, but no marriage record can be found. He was in White County by 1808, maybe earlier.I have obtained an old Walling family tree that lists a Morgan Bryant and Delilah Rogers as the dfaughter of a Nancy Bryant.I think this Nancy Walling was Morgan "Sr."'s wife. This Nancy Walling was the daughter of James Walling who was from Virginia.
If you think there is a connection, please post a response.I am on vacation this week and am not able to answer email. The observatory I am working in has access to this page, but I can't answer my email.
