Guilford Robertson Walling/TN/B:1851
Seeking any information on ascendants or descendants of my Great-Grandfather, Guilford Robertson Walling/Born: Sept. 3,
1851/Died: June 20, 1924.He lived in the
historic Edgefield area of East Nashville during the Civil War years when General Sherman's "March to the Sea" swept thru
the city. His first marriage (Spouse's name unknown at this time) produced these children that I know of:Walter, Johnny and possibly Charlie.Guilford Walling's second marriage to Mary Ann Adcox Walling (Born:April 17, 1878/Died:May 16, 1960) produced these children:Lewis Winfred Walling/Ada Elizabeth Walling/Edward Walling/William Arthur Walling/Catherine "Cottie" Walling and Rosella Garrett Walling.
It was always my understanding that the Wallings were or Irish heritage. It seems to me that I was told of a Great-Great Grandmother that may have lived with Guilford and Mary Ann Walling whose name may have been Campbell.
I was at the Elmwood Cemetary in Springfield, Tennessee where Guilford and Mary Ann are buried and found two small stones at either side of the large head stone. One of these small stones was engraved with "Walling" the other small stone was engraved with "Brown" (? significance of Brown?).
