It has dawned on me that if the death record I have found for the Curtis Walling in Evansville, Indiana is indeed my grandfather, he was approximately 13 years older than my grandmother at the time of their relationship. She was born in 1920. It is very possible that Mr. Walling was married & that is the reason he "took off" when finding out about my grandmother's pregnancy. It could also be why my grandmother never wanted to talk about him, or their relationship.

If anyone knew my grandmother, they'd know she was stubborn, cantankerous old broad. When she got her mind set to something, she wouldn't let it go until she found what she was looking for. I inherited that trait.. and I won't stop looking. I don't want to cause waves, but I feel as if my mother, my sister & I, and my niece have a right to know at least a little bit of our heritage.

Thanks again,
Jessica
