Hi! I am a descendant of the SC/Ga Wallings and have very little on then. My grandfather was Cadow Behling Walling, MD, in Savannah and Tattnall County Ga b 8 Aug 1870 d 13 Dec 1942. He married Julia Maria Wolfe in SC l3 Apr 1892.
They had 5 living children, four daughters and one son, Stephen Bennett Walling b 18 Jul 1893 d 23 Apr 1933, b SC
d Fla. My greatgrandfather, James Behling Walling,is my problem! He was found under a cabbage leaf in 1833. He must have been because I have searched High and Low and in between for parents for him. There is a notation that the family might have been from Rhode Island. So far no luck there, either.
Seriously, I have as his birthday 1833 and birthplace Monks Corner, SC. He died at age 44 on l8 May 1877. Having no parents' names makes it difficult to search R.I.
If any of you R.I.(or neighboring states) Wallings or descendents have someone who left R. I. for SC sometime around or before l833, please contact me. I desperately need some clue!
