Why was Ben Holston also known as Stewart? By the way, on records in Sharp County Fookes is sometimes spelled Folkes.
In 1900 in Sharp Co., AR there is a household headed by Samuel Fookes. He is 77. His wife Nancy, 65. Also listed in this household are: Josephine Morgan, granddaughter, age l7; Jesse Morgan, boarder, age 45; Jefferson Morgan, grandson, age l6; George Fookes, boarder, age l6. I would guess that Jesse Morgan was father of Josephine and had been married to a Fookes daughter, deceased, of Samuel and Nancy.
Next door to Samuel Fookes is household of Henry Tookes, age 43. His birth state and those given for Samuel and Nancy above indicate that he is their son.
Next door to Henry Fookes is household headed by Lester Holton, age 32. Next household is that of John Gee, his wife Josephine; his children Walter, Virgie, and William; and a boarder Benjamin W. Holton, age 34. He is obviously the brother of Lester Holton, for both are said to have been born in Illinois; father of both in New Jersey; mother of both in Vermont.
At time of l920 census Virgie Fookes and her husband Jay are living in household of her father John Gee in Sharp Co. I don't know how Jay Fookes relates to the other Fookeses, but I'm sure he is kin to them.
