Hi Donna,

Well, I was just browsing to see if anyone else had any knowledge of the rest of our Wallin/g's and saw this post & thought I would answer, so others might find our/their history.

I hired a genealogist in Kalamazoo, MI who helped me track down living descendants of Mary Ann (Wallin) Christian & Horace John Christian, so we currently have knowledge of living decendants of Joseph & Susannah (Cook) Wallin's following children:

John T. Walling (your line).
Mary Ann (Wallin/g) who died in Kalamazoo, MI in Dec. 1905. I know her descendants & have been in touch with them.
Carrie M. (Wallin)b. Sept. 01, 1847 & died Feb. 13, 1920 in Kalamazoo, MI. My line.

All 3 of the above are connected to Cayuga County, NY area in some way, Carrie claimed to have been born there in 1847, Mary Ann married & lived there until 1870 & John took Carrie there in to Mary's home in 1863 while he was serving in the military.

Carrie married Harmon Gilson Brown & both were from Cayuga COunty.

Mary Ann (Wallin/g) Christian married Horace John Christian from Mentz, NY.

Civil War testimony of Carrie has her telling story that her brother, John Wallin/g came from Sac City, Iowa and moved her, in 1863, from Albion, MI to Mentz, NY to home of their sister, Mary Ann Christian.

Brown family members believe that after Carrie's birth, in 1847, that the children were orphaned and possibly sent out on "Orphan trains" to others to be raised & the older children were left to make their own way.

Carrie M. Wallin lived with the Benj. VanOstrand family in Albion, Calhoun County, MI.

Mary, who married Horace John Christian, in Mentz, Cayuga County, NY, may have stayed or been sent to Cayuga County. The Christian family ran a Hotel and she could have been "taken in" to help, but ended up marrying Horace John Christian is one theory.

John Walling served in the military and lost contact with his sisters per Carrie's testimony after 1873-1878.

I hope someday we find the rest of their siblings, Richard & Thomas.

I want to hire a genealogist in Cayuga COunty to discover the rest of the Wallin history of Joseph & Susannah Wallin.

Take care,
