Jacob, I think I may be able to clarify a couple of things.
First, the birth date of John Waller.I believe the c.1625 date in the book by Charles S. Waller, which contradicts his other date of c.1615-1617, is simply a typing error; note that if he meant to type c.1615 instead of c.1625 it would not contradict the other dates.
Anyway, I can fix the date much more precisely.If John were indeed the younger brother of Edmund, the poet, which is almost certainly true, he was born between 12-21-1615, the date of his father's will, which did not mention him; and 2-17-1616, the date of a codicil signed by his father to provide for him as a "new-born" son.Thus, John would almost certainly have been born in 1616!
* * *
As to evidence that Charles Mitchell Caldwell was a son of Harriet Louisa Waller and Richard Hornbuckle Caldwell, I think I may be able to help with that too.
I have a lot of paper from several different researchers on this line, and they all agree with that fact.
The marriage of Richard Hornbuckle Caldwell and Harriet Louisa Waller is recorded in Monroe County, GA, on 1-4-1825.
And then, they are buried in the New Georgia Cemetery, near Franklin, Macon County, Alabama.Their dates and places of birth and death are all recorded on their tombstones.My information is that the tombstones were placed several years after their deaths - by a living grandson, who would have had first-hand knowledge about the details.
Their son, Charles Mitchell Caldwell, was born on 1-18-1831 in Monroe County, Georgia.He married his first wife, Amanda Hutchison in Decembere 1849; thus he would not be listed as a son in the household of his parents in the 1850 census, the first to list all residents by name.
However, in the 1870 census of Macon County, Alabama, Harriet L. Caldwell, his widowed mother, was enumerated in the household of Charles Mitchell Caldwell.I believe that will provide the evidence you seek of their relationship!
