The Waller family of Spotsylvania and Henry County, VA, and later of Tennessee can be researched through Col. George Waller (1734-1814) and his wife Elizabeth Allen Waller (1735-1839). Col Waller’s life is well documented as a Revolutionary War hero at Gilford Court House in North Carolina. He sent some of his sons to Tennessee to claim land grants in about 1801. These sons settled in Roane County, Tennessee and their histories are also well documented. The Waller family often named their children after themselves or Henry, William, and George, which makes research somewhat difficult. This should point anyone in the right direction that is searching Tennessee because many people can connect their families to Roane County. Many Waller’s moved on westward but left connections to Tennessee.
