There are two court records concerning the wife of John Major named Magdalene (Maudlen') in the book titled "Virginia Colonial Abstracts Vol. I" by Beverly Fleet.
Accomack County, 1632-1637
p.9 Transcript p. 15.
[Original p. 27.Abstract.]John Major ord to pay to Susan Helline, widow, 18 hens "for her paynes and tyme in lookinge to his wife the tyme she did lay in Childbed" This order on examination and oath of Agnis Williams.
p.9 Transcript p.16
[original p.27. Abstract.]Agnis Williams aged 24 years swears that Maudlen the wife of John Major bargained with Susan Helline widow for 12 hens, only to be pd. in 1632.See foregoing entry.[Note:The transcript shows this name as Mandlen'. It is plainly "Maudlen' in the original, which of course is Magdalene.]
I again want to stress the fact that it is not me that is making the decision that the name Maudlen' was clearly Magdalene but the person/persons who did the transcription. It appears in the book by Beverly Fleet just as I have written it.
As far as the message #725 on the Major Family Forum I did not see where the source of the information was given.
I would agree that it is very likely that if the John Major married to Magdalene was the same John Major that married Jane Henry then it is more likely than not the case that Magdalene died in childbirth and also the child died at the same time.
