It appears that the maiden name of Jane wife of John Major originally came from the following information. It appears that even if it does document the wife of John Major that her maiden WAS NOT Larremore (Lorrimer) but HENRY.As the documentation reports that her name of Jane Maior (Major) was first written "Henry" then crossed out and written as "Maior"
"Cavaliers and Pioneers" by Nell Marion Nugent; Vol. I; p. 119.Patent Book No. 1 - Part II.

JOHN MAIOR (MAJOR), 400 acs.Accomack 1640, page 698.Due for trans. of 8 servs:Joane Filby, Henry Larramore, John Maior, Jane Maior (first written Henry), Anthony ?, Christian Fisher, Francis a Negro.
"VA Colonial Abstracts" by Beverly Fleet.Vol. I.
Transcript p.13
p. 8 Aprill 1634:John Major aged 27 or thereabouts.....
Transcript p. 16
p.9.....Maudlen the wife of John Major....["Note" was written by Beverly Fleet: Note. The transcript shows this name a Mandlen'.It is plainly "Maudlen"in the original, which of course is Magdalene].*
*Dates above 1634 and below court record is 1634.
So either John Major's wife was Jane Magdalene Henry or his first wife was Magdalene ? and his second wife was Jane Henry.
I would be more inclined to believe that John Major's first wife, Magdalene died and then he returned to England married Jane Henry and imported his wife, Jane Henry Majorand their son, John Major along with others. As the first court records place John Major in VA by 1634 and Jane Major & John Major were imported as of 1640.I have not seen VA Eastern Shore court records refer to name of John Major's wife as Magdalene after 1634 but much documentation after 1640 that her name was JANE and would be interested to know if any exist.
