Hi Del,
I read your post re:Elizabeth Tinker. I am of the theory that she was the daughter of John and Jane Tinker and brother to my ancestor Jesse Tinker. The reasoning for this is the fact she wasn't listed in the 1830 census with William in Monroe County. I believe John is probably a son of William and brother to your Benjamin. John is listed in 1830 McMinn Co pg 150 with 3 males ages 0 to 15 and 3 females ages 5 to 15 and John age 30-40. I believe it is this same John listed in 1840 Blount Co age 40-50 with 3 males ages 5-20 and 2 females ages 0-10 (2 daughters married in Monroe Co 1838 and 1839 to George and John Waller). John and Jane are in Polk Co. TN 6th Civil Dist 765/772 John age 54; Jane age 51; Andrew 22; Jesse 18; and Mariah J 13. I have found them in other census in Polk Co also. If you are familiar with Monroe, Blount, McMinn and Polk Counties in TN, you know they sort of border each other and county lines changed and these people were pretty mobile also.
Any comments or ideas? Please feel free to post. As they say, "Two heads are better than one"
