The John Waller who emigrated to Virginia and died in 1754 did not name a son "Pomfret".Pomfret Waller was the son of Thomas Carr Waller and Sarah Dabney -- great grandson of Dr John Waller of Newport Pagnell.
There was continued association between the Wallers and the Pomfrets in Virginia. That (in my view) is probably why the child was named Pomfret, rather than a long dead great grandmother.
