Leona Clendenin Wallen, 92, formerly of 1337 E. Sullivan
Court in Kingsport, Sullivan Co TN, went home to meet her
heavenly father on Wednesday morning, September 12, 2007,
at Church Hill Health Care & Rehab Center, Church Hill,
Hawkins Co TN.

She had lived in Lee County, Va, most of her life. Leona
was a faithful member of Willis Chapel Primitive Baptist
Church in Kyles Ford until moving to Kingsport, TN, in
1987 where she attended West View Primitive Baptist Church
as long as her health permitted. Mrs. Wallen loved work in
her garden and to quilt.

She was the daughter of the late Thadeus and Rosa Pearcy
Clendenin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in
death by her loving husband of 53 years, Jack Wallen; two
infant daughters, Vema and Bernita Wallen, along with
seven brothers and four sisters.

Leona is survived by her two daughters, Mae Willis abd her
husband, Wayne, Columbia, SC, Joyce Ryans and her husband,
Sinetker, Church Hill, TN; two grandsons, Michael Willis
and his wife, Jennie, Lexington, SC, Shannon Ryans, Church
Hill, TN; three great-grandchildren, Emily Willis, Natalie
Willis and Ashley Willis, all of Lexington, SC; along with
a host of nieces and nephews.

Calling hours: Thursday, September 13, 2007 from 5 p.m. to
7 p.m. at Carter-Trent Funeral Home of Church Hill.

Funeral service: Thursday. September 13, 2007 at 7 p.m. in
the funeral home chapel with Elder John Arnott and Elder
Walter Willis officiating.

Graveside service to be conducted on Friday, September 14,
2007, at 1 p.m. at Johnson Family Cemetery in Blackwater,
VA. Family and friends attending the graveside service are
to meet at the cemetery by 12:50 p.m. Grandsons and
nephews will serve as pallbearers.

The family would like to give a heart felt THANK-YOU to
the caregivers and staff of Church Hill Health Care &
Rehab Center for their dedication, support and love.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to
West View Primitive Baptist Church, c/o Delmar Wallen, Sr.,
817 Morrison Ave, Kingsport, TN 37660.

Carter-Trent Funeral Home of Church Hill is serving the
Wallen family.
