News Article:

As the News-Herald goes to press on Thursday afternoon, we have advance information that a wedding is taking place at this very hour in Miami, in which many of our readers will be interested. The contracting parties are S.V.Wallen well known citizen of this place and Mrs. Amanda Martin of Miami. The scene is at the home of Rev. and Mrs. W.T. Essary, brother-in-law of the bridegroom, of that city, and who spoke the solemn words that made them husband and wife.

At the same hour preparations were going on at the home of daughter Mrs. R.A. Woodson of this place for a big wedding supper, after which the newly-weds will be "at home" to their friends at the Wallen residence on North Main street in Fairland.

Mr. Wallen has been a citizen of Fairland for more than thirty years and is known by practically everyone as one of our leading citizens. Mrs. Martin bore the reputation of being one of the best women in Miami. The groom gave his age at 69 and the bride at 59 yrs.

Amanda lived with Cherry & Luther Martin til her death in 1945, and was buried in Nampa, Canyon Co, ID. Shade V. Wallen died some time btwn their marriage date of 2 Oct 1930 and Apr 1945, which is Amanda's date of death.

Amanda was the widow of Charles Abraham Lincoln Martin:

C.L.Martin Dead
C.L.Martin, a former resident of Decatur, died suddenly at his home at Row, OK Thursday abt one o'clock, as a result of 8 yrs suffering caused by being hit by a K.C.S. train near Kansas City. Mr. Martin had been in poor health for a long time, having underwent three operations but to no permanent relief. The funeral was held at the Baptist church, this city, Friday afternoon, and conducted by Rev. J.A. Scroggins pastor, of the Baptist church. He leaves a wife, two daughters, Mrs. Dodson Barnes (Macie), of Girard, KS, and Mrs. J.L. Farrell (Mabel) of Pittsburg, KS, who were present at the funeral, two sons, Edward and (Calvin) Luther Martin of Hayden, CO, who could not attend the funeral.

This is all I have so far.
