Perhaps a few WALLEN researchers have not seen this, and for those who missed it, I submit the following:
In the 1850 federal census of Tennessee (Hancock Co., 32nd Sub division, pages 45-47) this problem has surfaced. Within a tight-knit community of WALLENs, a family of Wallen ROBERTS is enumerated residing at House Number 327. Throughout my research, I have never found another individual with the given name of "Wallen" but this Wallen ROBERTS appears from nowhere smackdab in the middle of six WALLEN families. ALL census listings show the surname first followed by the given name--but not here! This erroneously listed resident was counted with his wife Darcas and children Nancy, Mary Ann, Mila, and Hanna.
I think the enumerator was hard of hearing or might have been cixelsyd.
