In Reply to: Jesse WALLEN/WALDEN by Christie Hallam-Hoffarth of 1121

Susan/Susannah Roberts/Wallen was the widow of Jessee B. Wallen, son of John J. Wallen and Elizabeth Wallen. I'm doing this off the top of my head, so I can't give the dates. I do remember that Jessee was born in 1819. The John who lives next door, age 18, is also their son. He married a Martha, and had a daughter, Francis, and a son, John Willie. The John B. Wallen in the 1860 Barry County census is Jessee's brother, and the William Wallen is a half brother. He is a son of John J. Wallen and Prudy Pratt.

The brother of John that you're looking for has to be either Jessee or James. Simpson is not an option. He never had a son, Jesse. Simpson and Jesse both enlisted in the CSA at Cassville, MO, in 1862. Simpson deserted after Prairie Grove and enlisted in the Union army. To the best of my knowledge, Jessee never came home. I'd look for information about James.

I'm copying this from the message I just posted for Larry, so forgive me if it brings a sensation of deja vu.

Email me if I can be of any more help.
