Hi Susan,

I have been enjoying reading your postings...I can see that you have done a ton of research and some of your material that you have posted is very helpful to my own research...So I sincerely wish to thank you! Bit Time!

About the Wallings and Jones...Let me explain my own research a bit here for clarity...According to a Walling family Bible..Stephen Wilburn m Mourning Walling, dau of Joseph Walling and Millicent Jones.
Stephen and Morning Walling Wilburn had ten children..b. between 1803 and 1821. They lived in Claiborne Co TN...but prior to that lived in Hawkins Co TN (land records 1818) BUT they relocated to Giles, VA for a number of years and then moved back to eastern TN..

I found a Joseph Walling in Granville NC on land records in (top of my head) 1753, and not surprising living in the same district as a Wilburn family...In fact, there were two Walling families living in different districts, and both Walling families had Wilburns as immediate neighbors...So this tells me that the Wilburns and Wallings were known to each other from that era...There was also a Jospeh Walling who m Bridget (lockhard)...I could have this surname wrong...again this is from the top of my head...But I suspect that this Jospeh was a younger son of the Joseph and Millicent Jones union...At any event, I feel certain that there were two Joseph Wallings of different generations that were kin in some fashion..

Now about Millicent JOnes, I too, am interested in learning about her Jones line.
Lots of Wilburns married into the Jones families, and since families married into each other's line for many many generations, I suspect that some of these Jones/Wilburn marriages were from the same Jones line..since the Wilburns who m Jones descends from the same wilburn ancestor...

Now some Jones researchers claim that Suzannah Wilburn Jones, m to Stephen Jones married into the Jones family whose roots were in St, Mary's MD. Some of this does not add up to my way of thinking...but then I am not a seasoned JOnes researcher, so I am not in a position to challege the work of others, who might have this all right too...

Sorry to be so rambling...One Wilburn family married into the line of Samuel Bennington Harris Jones, a Rev War vet who later settled into Fleming co KY...I had some info on him (from work of others) and promptly lost it...And I would love to look at this info again, since I am a bit more seasoned now...

By the way, I have a number of Wilburn/Walden marriages..One Gunnery Wilburn left many descendants of the same name...Just two days ago..I spotted a gunnery Wallen..1850 Hancock Co TN...the only time I have ever seen the given name Gunnery was connected to a Wilburn surname...interesting how these families continued to intertwine.

I am sure that I have much to learn from you...And I am always happy to share my own research.

Best regards,

Vikky wilburn Anders in San Diego
