I just came across your message and was interested due to the fact that I have just been working on my geneology on my mother's side and she is a Wallin. We can trace this back to Elisha Wallen and the 'longhunters'. You were correct Elisha Wallen did cross into Kentucky through the cumberland gap along with Daniel Boone and others and due to the fact that the majority of the people mispronounced his name as "walden" there is a mountain ridge along Cumberland Gap named "Walden's Ridge". Elisha's name is also listed on the historical data at the Cumberland Gap visitor center. I have a good bit of research that I received from other's in my family that details the information that I have just mentioned. I would be glad to let anybody interested have it. Please e-mail me and we will make arrangements.

Thanks
