William B. Wallen/Wallin

Have found a referance to William B. Wallin in "Branded as Rebels" by Fred Lee and Joanne Chiles Eakin. On page 449-450, it states that William B. Wallin of the 16th Missouri Infanty, was killed at the Battle of Lone Jack (Jackson County, Missouri) on August 16, 1862. Ref. Praire Gleaner, West Central Missouri Genealogical Society. This confirms information found in my Great Grandmother's (Frances M. Wallen Youree) obituary published on June 2, 1928 in the Independence Examiner which states that her brother, William B. Wallen, died at the Battle of Lone Jack. Frances and her brother William were the children of James B. Wallen(Grandson of Elizah Wallen the Longhunter) and Frances Hamblin/Hamlin. According to the "Vital Historical Records of Jackson County Missouri: 1826 - 1876" Published by the D.A.R.'s in 1933-34, page 335, William B. Wallin is buried in Corn Cemetery (Section 17, Township 48, Range 29 W). His tombstone, copied by Mrs. Hale Houts on July 25, 1933, states that William died August 16, 1862, age 25 years, 6 months. I have seen little information about William B. Wallen and I hope this will solve some of the mystery of what happened to him.
