Having received some information from Carolyn Wallin, I now believe that my Great Grandmother, Frances M. Wallen, was born in 1840 and not 1843 as indicated in the 1850 Census. I believe that she was listed in the 1840 Census although the Census Taker mixed her dates with her older brother William (1 male 0-5,1 female 5-10 should have read 1 male 5-10,1 female 0-5). This would make her Father, James B. Wallen, very much alive at the time of her birth and would solve the mystery. I also believe that the source of her birth date as indicated on her tombstone was taken from the 1850 Census when a more modern mounument was placed on the site.
