Chief Petty Officer Delmer Wallen, Jr., 53, of Philippi,
WV, formerly of Kingsport, Sullivan Co TN, went home to be
with the Lord unexpectedly on Monday, August 15, 2011, at
his residence.

He was a graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School and held a
Masters Degree from East Tennessee State University.
Delmer was currently on active duty as a Naval Recruiter
stationed in Bridgeport, WV. He was a member of West View
Primitive Baptist Church where he was a Sunday School
Superintendent. He was also a member of the American
Legion, the Kingsport VFW, Kingsport Masonic Lodge #688
F & AM, Toastmasters International, Downtown Kingsport
Optimist Club, and Past Governor of the TN District of
Optimist International.

He was preceded in death by his father, Delmer Wallen, Sr.

Survivors include his loving wife, Vicki Jo Cox Wallen, of
the home; his mother, Jean C. Wallen, of Kingsport, TN;
sister, Donna Bailey and husband Bob; brother, David
Wallen and wife, Cathy; two nieces, Elizabeth Bailey and
Katie Wallen; and three nephews, Charles Wallen, Will
Wallen, and Bobby Bailey.

The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m., on
Friday, August 19, 2011, at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 520
Watauga Street, Kingsport, TN.

Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m., with Elder Burnice
Sybert and Elder Oscar Irvin officiating.

Graveside services will be held at 9 a.m., on Saturday,
August 20, 2011, at Oak Hill Memorial Park, Kingsport.
Honorary pallbearers are, Glen Carter, Cam Martin, Andy
Wallen, Stan Wallen, Gale McCullough, Billy Walton, and
Bob Madewell.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Optimist
International Foundation, Attn: Judy Smith, 4494 Lindell
Blvd, St. Louis, MO 63108-2498.

Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport, is serving
the Wallen family.
