wallen in tennessee or south carolina

I found out that the Wallens that I am looking for are mostly in Tenn. and South Carolina. The Wallen I talked too (Roy Emmett)had a hard time remembering where they were at different parts of his childhood. He isn't young anymore and that is a lot of years too look back on. All I know is what I put in my wallen/staffey post. That the father of Roy Emmett was McKinley Wallen born abt. 1900-10 married Lizzy Staffey from Gatecity, tenn. McKinley was a mean fellow and killed someone for cheating at cards, he dressed the man nice and buried him in the moutains. Roy's grandmother (McKinely's mother) was reported to be full indian but who knows. The Staffey's were originally Staffeney from Germany about 1820, I don't have anything on them either. Roy told me that they lived in the mountains so maybe paperwork wasn't filed much up there in those days. Anyone have anything?
