I relooked at my information. The information I have is from a packet of information I received from a descendant of the same line but with the Wallihan spelling (generation 3-Pierce Wallihan and his descendants). According to the packet the first Wallahan was John Wallahan listed on the 1790 Federal census for Montgomery County, Maryland. (the name may have also been spelled as it sounded to the census taker). There were 2 males 16 year and older, 1 male under 16 and 3 females. (Other spellings: Wollahan, Wallihan, Wallian).
Children of John Wallahan: Daniel Wallahan, Catherine Wallahan, Samuel Wallahan b. 1772-1844, Betsy Wallahan and John (Wollahan). Samuel married a Nancy Rogers who was from Ireland. Both the Wallahans and the Rogers moved from Pennsylvania to Ohio. I beleive Samuel is listed on a tax roll in Ohio in 1820, and one child was born 1803 in PA and the next child in 1804 in Ohio. Going back to John Wallahan, some information states he was from Welsh stock and came to America in 1760 settling in Maryland. Other information suggests an Irish background.
