No, Glenda,
I have only one Greene Co., GA, reference book to
consult. It has a number of entries for the surname
Wallace (also under the Wallis spelling). Deeds of
real estate and sales of other property. Mainly
as witnesses. Not very informative so far. Haven't
made notes yet. Just a quick glance-through.
Have that reference because my William Shaw family
went from Union Co., SC (adjacent to York Co., SC)
to Greene Co., GA, for some years after the Revolution.
Then William returned to South Carolina (York County),
while some of his relatives remained in Georgia.
Don't see a connection, otherwise, between my Shaws
and the Wallace family. Lived across the Catawba
River, more or less, from each other.
It appears, so far, that my Jennet Faries and her
husband William Wallace/Wallis moved to Lauderdale
Co., AL, at some point, as did Jennet's brother
Rev. Alexander Faries/Faires and some Faires
cousins and other Wallace family members.
This deed is still new to me. Have not had much
time yet for follow-up research. But wanted to
pass on the initial finding to interested Wallace
researchers.
Dan
