Ethan Allen Wallace, OH & IL
Anyone researching this Wallace family. If so, I would like to compare notes.
Ethan Allen Wallace/Phebe Janet Wallace, married August 24, 1841 in Lorain County, OH.
Ethan was born in VT and Phebe in OH although birth records have not been located for either one of them at this time.
Ethan fought in the War of 1812 and for his service was granted a land patent in Knox, County, IL for 160 acres. The family moved there sometime after Jul 1860 and Ethan died Jan 3,
1863 in Galesburgh, IL.So far I have not been able to locate a gravesite for Ethan.
In 1878 Phebe started collecting a Widows Pension based on Ethan's military service.A grave hasn't been located for Phebe either but I have a copy of a letter written by the Clerk of
the District Court of York County, Nebraska to the U.S. Government Pension office in Washington DC.The clerk states that Phebe died there on Oct 3, 1896 and was without
property to pay her final expenses. He was asking that her final pension check be sent to the county to cover her final expenses.
How or when Phebe got to Nebraska is unknown at this time.Perhaps one of her children moved there and she went to visit or live with them.
The family had 8 children, all born in Ohio

I would also like help in locating a grave for Ethan Allen Wallace which I assume is somewhere in Knox County. He was living in Haw Creek Township when he died so he is probably
in a cemetery somewhere around there or around Galesburgh where he died.
