William Wallace, Frederick Co., Maryland
I am searching for William Wallace whose will was issued in Frederick Co., Maryland in 1758.It appears that through a boundary change, part of Frederick Co. formed into Montgomery Co. As recorded, William had a daughter Frances who married in 1760-61 to John Craven(b.1738-40). There was a family homestead called "Wallace's Industry" in Rock Creek, Montgomery Co., Maryland. William also had a son (France's brother) who named a tract of land in Washington Co. Pennsylvania after the family homestead.
I think this Wallace family were part of the Scotch Irish clan, or rather Ulster Scots who came from northern Ireland. I'm trying to figure out whether they came through Baltimore, or through Pennsylvania. I've learned that the Scotch Irish settled into the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia. My branch ended up in Washington Co., Pennsylvania. Can anyone tell me about the Scotch Irish and their migration into this country?
Susan
