BEYOND BRAVEHEART....can this be correct?

I am descendent from John Wallace b abt 1606 who married Margaret Thomson/Thompson.
In the book "Beyond Braveheart" John's father is shown as William Wallace b abe 1534.
This would make him over 70 years old when John was born.

Can this be correct? Help
