Wallace, Anderson, Claiborne and Rainey/Raney
Posted by: Ralph Rainey (ID *****6843) Date: April 20, 2009 at 13:19:51

My Gr, Gr, Gr, Grandfather was Benjamin Johnson Rainey/Raney, born in Virginia 1765.
My research indicates that his wife was named Sarah, (maybe Anderson or Wallace).
They were in Laurens Co., SC abt. 1786 to 1800 & then to Georgia for a few years, where several of their children were born.
One son was Bennett C. Raney/Rainey, b. abt.1807 in Ga.
Family tradition says that the middle initial C, stood for Claiborne.
Another son was Thomas Anderson Rainey/Raney, b. 1811-Ga.
The family moved to Bedford Co., Tenn. in 1817 and later scattered to other places.
My Gr Grandfather was Thomas Anderson Rainey, b. 1835-Ill.
My father was Wallace Anderson Rainey, b. 1889-Ill.
Any help and/or information on these families will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
