Thank you Charles for this posting. Wallace records are co-mingled in many cases and mine may be as well. There are some early records in our family that indicate that there was a John Wallace, Sr. who married Mary Hyatt and had sons Eli and Jonathan.
After Mary died John Wallace married unknown, but some later family records indicate that her name may have been Nancy Matilda De Saussure of pre Revolutionary War SC.
We believe that we descend from his second family namely, John Wallace, Jr. who fought in the Rev. War probably both from VA and SC. We believe that this John Wallace moved to SC during the Rev. War and remained there as a Methodist Circuit Rider there for 25 years. He then moved to Indiana by 1808 where he remained.
We have a male cousin who has taken the y-dna test and it indicates that our Wallace line is very small. We are looking to see if we can find a male Wallace who descends from this Jonathan Wallace to see if we are a match.
Do you have any records of the Jonathan Wallace male who was in Laurens SC in 1800?
Thank you,
Donna Crosby
