HARRIETT WALL M. McDANIEL PACE - JOHNSTON CO. NC
McDaniel Pace was the son of either Bartley Pace or Larry Pace, the only sons of John Pace and Edney Batten m. 1821 in Johnston Co.,NC.Another researcher (V.A.Pace, Jr.) said their children were Bartley, Larry, Rilda, and Zilpha.V.A. Pace Jr. also believed that John Pace was perhaps the illegitimate son of Stephen Pace (b.1757), and grandson of John and Sarah Burge Pace.I think V. A. Pace has dropped out of circulation. He posted:: "John Pace 1798-1872. Married to Edny Batten April 1821. Children Bartley, Rilda, Zilpha,Larry"Bruce Howardsuggested that this John Pace was another child of Stephen Pace and Lucy Walker Pace, Stephen's 2nd wife.
"What I found last week when I re-visited the Register of Deeds Office at the
County Courthouse in Smithfield was a Land Deed between John Pace, the
grantor, and Zilpha Garner, the grantee. This record can be found in Deed
Book 'O', page 33.The first part of it (the part that caused my heart to
go pitter-patter!) reads as follows:
"This indenture made the 25th of July 1871 between John Pace of Johnston
County and State of North Carolina of the first part and Zilpha Garner wife
of Wm H Garner [sic] of the above written County and State.Witnesseth that
the said John Pace for and in consideration of natural love and affection to
him in hand paid by his daughter Zilpha Garner [that's the exciting part!!]
the receipt is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained and given and by
these presents doth grant bargain give the said Zilpha Garner and her heirs
a certain tract of land in Johnston County adjoining the lands of Jas H
Batten and others on the south side of little creek [sic]."
The remainder of the document is typical "deed-speak" with a description of
the property given in metes and bounds terminology, etc.
On the next page (page 34) of the same book is another Deed with John Pace
as the Grantor and McDanel [sic] Pace as the Grantee."McDanel" is cited in
the document as "his grandson McDanel Pace", referring to John Pace.
Chuck"

Harriet Wall of Johnston County was my ggrandmother. I believe that Mabra (Mabre)
Wall was Harriet's brother. Do youhave anything on this? Are you aware of the Talton/Wall Cemetery? Harriet is buried there along with Mabre T. Wall.
