I quite agree with your assessment in general. One cannot tell a whole lot from the 12 marker Y-DNA test. In my case I have since had more in depth DNA testing done, and found that through the male line I am actually of the E1b1b1a2 haplogroup. My results (and a few other Walkups of the Samuel and Nancy Wauchope line that have been done further testing to date) are shown to be totally consistent with my earlier hypothesis. I have also since done further extensive research on the subject (and still am) and now believe that my Walkup ancestor was actually a Thracian (via testing shown probably not to be from the nearby Roman Provinces of Illyricum or Dacia) that was sent to Scotland for the Roman invasion of AD 79. The auxiliary Roman fort at Broomholm was only 2 miles from the Wauchope Water, Dumfriesshire. A major genetic paper was done recently discussing the very subject of this haplogroup's presence in Britain due to Rome.
