My family tree search has led me to a branch of Walkingtons. My great grandmother Elizabeth Ann Simpson (nee Read) was born in Malton, Yorks. 10 Nov. 1865. She was the daughter of Richard Read (a joiner) and Elizabeth nee Carr. Elizabeth Carr was born c. 1827, the daughter of Richard Carr (a stone mason). I have a marriage record for Richard Carr (stone mason) and Elizabeth Walkington for New Malton St Leonard's. They were married 26 April 1815, and Elizabeth Walkington was recorded as 'spinster of this parish'.

I presume that Richard and Elizabeth are my great great great grandparents, although the link is not totally certain, but his profession is the same as my Richard Carr, and their's is the only marriage I have found in that area for Richard Carr.

From church records, I have some possible links going further back:

Elizabeth Walkington, daughter of William and Ann, was christened 27 December 1793 in New Malton St Leonard's.

William Walkington married Ann Harrison 25 May 1779 in New Malton St Michael's.

William Walkington, son of John, was christened 18 February 1757 in New Malton St Leonard's.

John Walkington married Margaret Walkington (presumably her married name?) 22 March 1746 in New Malton St Michael's.

This appears to take me back another two generations, but this is unfortunately all speculative without some more definite links between these various individuals.

If you have any information which links in with these Walkingtons, I would be delighted to hear from you.

Michael Fay
