walker/farrar family ties

My husband is a Walker by birth. Have traced his lineage back to James Matthew Walker born 1847 Noxubee County MS. Our son has done the DNA tests for the Walker DNA project. He has made no connection to the Walkers yet, but has connected with the Farrar family. We know James Matthew Walker was raised by Lawrence William Walker from TN and MS. Question is whether he is a son, stepson, adopted son, etc. He carried the Walker name. We cannot find him in the 1850 census in Noxubee County MS, living in the household of Lawrence Walker. However he was living in the household with Lawrence in the 1860 Noxubee County MS census. When Lawrence moved back to Tennessee between 1860-1870, so did James M. One of Lawrence's sister Ann was married to Landon C Farrar of the Farrar Island Farrars. Ann and her children moved to MD when Lawrence did abt 1834. Landon had died prior. Since the Walker DNA showed no connection to the Walkers but did connect to the Farrars, we are thinking James Matthew was a Farrar by birth. If anyone has any info on Lawrence Walker, James Matthew Walker, or any of these families mentioned I would appreciate it if you would contact me. We are trying hard to knock down that brick wall.
