NOTE many researchers have gotten this William confused with another William Walker who was in Oglethorpe County Georgia at a very early time, They are in fact two seperate people. the other William Walker was married to a Judith MNU and was in Georgia before 1784 thru 1788 at this time this William Walker was in North Carolina and this is proven by the listed birth states of his children.

This William Walker migrated to Oglethorpe County around the year 1800 give or take a year or two. One account gives the birth of Daughter Abby as 1797 born in Georgia , the census records show a birth of 1800 Georgia. No matter, the fact that William Walker was in North Carolina in 1790 is proven, and shows that he is not the same William as was in Georgia at a much earlier time and found listed on several land deeds.............

It is unknown to this researcher how the Leonard Walker listed above fits into this Walker family. This William Walker had only one known son, listed in his Will whos name was William, he was born about 1803 and was listed as under age in his fathers Will in 1814. The 1820 census shows two possible sons living in the home, William Walker Sr. died in 1822 in Oglethorpe County Georgia

I have no Idea who the male is who is in the home age 18-25, it is possible that this is another son of William who was not listed in his fathers Will. I am very confident that this is the right William Walker as I have been thru every page of the 1820 Oglethorpe county census and this is the only William Walker listed.

Note ancestry.com had William listed as William Walkes , I have since corrected this record.

IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN. I, William Walker of the county of Oglethorpe & State of Georgia, being through the mercy of God spared, though weak in body yet of perfect mind & memory, do make & ordain this my last Will & Testament & first of all, I recommend my soul into the hands of Almighty God that gave it & my body to be buried in a decent Christian like manner, & I give & dispose of my worldly goods in the following manner & form after my just debts are all paid.
ITEM. I give & bequeath unto my beloved wife Sarah Walker the tract or parcel of land whereon I now live with all its appurtenances, containing two hundred acres, be the same more or less, together with all my household & kitchen furniture together with all my plantation tools & all my stock of every kind by her free will to dispose of property & enjoy for the use of my family, together with all debts , due to me either by notes, judgements or accounts which I have standing against my debtors. All the above named property I leave to her discretion so long as she remains my widow, & I do hereby make her my sole Executrix of this my last will & testament & privilege her to select any person in whom she can most confide to assist her in critical affairs, but provided the said Sarah should marry, she then cease to be my Executrix, & only to have such a part of my estate as the law allows. In such case & in the case that said Sarah should marry, it is my wish that the court appoint some other proper person to succeed her that place & it is my wish also, that when my younger daughters that are now single should marry, that my said wife Sarah should make shares equal with those of my daughters that are married. Also my will & desire is that the balance of my estate be kept together for the use of my younger children until my son William Walker comes of age & after the death of my said wife Sarah, my will is that my son William Walker shall have the tract of land whereon I now live, containing two hundred acres, more or less, to him & his heirs forever.

And, should my wife Sarah die before my son William becomes of age, my will is that my personal property then remaining after her death be kept together & the plantation whereon I live for the use of my loving children that may remain unmarried, until my son William becomes of age, then the balance to be equally divided among my nine daughters (to-wit) Elizabeth; Rachel; Sally; Jamina; Nancy; Polly; Abby: Patsy; and Margaret, and my son William excluded.

In witness whereof I have here unto set my hand & seal the 25th day of March 1814.

That she is the widow of William Walker who was a private soldier and served in the war of the Revolution in the United States Artilery two years or upwards. The Troop and Regiment in which he served not know. That she knows nothing of her own knowledge of the said William Walker’s services as aforesaid and knows of no person now living who can testify of their own knowledge other than Mathew Varner whose affidavit she has in possession. But that she has frequently heard her late husband William Walker say in his lifetime that he resided in Anson County State of North Carolina and enlisted in the services of the United States for the term of 2 years about the commencement of the war of the Revolution and enlisted the services at Salisbury State of North Carolina as a private and marched from thence to Charles Town State of South Carolina where he was forted or stationed to guard the city until his term of service expired. And he was legally and honorably discharged in the year 1778, which discharge she had in her possession several years after her said husband’s death and handed the said discharge to her neighbor John A. Fambrough who agreed to investigate & obtain the Bounty land due her said husband for Revolutionary services, which said discharge she has never seen [since] she handed it to the said Fambrough. That she is not certain that her said husband was in the Artilery service but believes so from the fact of his being engaged in attending to the cannon. That he frequently related to her that standing so near in priming and setting the match of the cannon that its report created a deafness which lasted him to his death.

Deponent further states that the said William Walker died on the day of January eighteen hundred and twenty two in Oglethorpe County Georgia. And this deponent further declares that she was legally married to the said William Walker on the day of seventeen hundred and eighty eight or nine in Rowan County State of North Carolina. That she knows of no person living who could testify to the fact. That she has no documentary evidence of the fact further than her family registry which contains a true registry of her children’s ages in the order of their births, registered in the handwriting of her said husband. That she removed from North Carolina to the State of Georgia Oglethorpe County where her husband died on the day aforesaid. That she has remained a widow ever since the period of her husband’s death. NOTE's
The older female who is found in the home age 60-69 is believed to be the mother of Lindsey Durham, what leads me to this conclusion is the fact the census clearly shows that there is an extended family living with Lindsey and wife Martha, You can see this by the ages of the males living in the home. I at one time believed that this older female was Sarah Lambert Walker, as this age fits her, But due to my new findings of William Walker in Oglethorpe County, Sarah Walker is accounted for with son William Walker.

Notes for Unknown Wife:
NOTE's

Some researchers have ascribed a wife to this William Walker and after close research I will not do the same. I followed the trail and could not find the answers to many questions that I had. such as what happened to the male children that should have been in the home.

Why are there more children then what is listed on the 1840 census and all the ages do not match. I do not have the inside information to this family so I will not assume that the information listed for this William Walker is correct, this will be up to the indiviual researcher.

The 1840 census shows that William Walker was married some time after the 1830 census and that he had four children born from about 1831 to 1840 two males and two females.
