I actually ordered David's birth certificate since I know 100% sure what his birth date is & where he was born, which is 07 May 1856 in Aberdare, Glamorgan, Wales. I found his US passport on Ancestry.com. What we have from family is his father's name of Meyrick (that is how family spells his name) & he was a tailor. You are right, he may have changed professions. We will see. The website told me I will have to wait until Jan of next year.
