Denbigh is spelled as above in the Indenture of 15 Sept 1680 between William Penn and John ap John of covering the purchase of 5000 acres of the Welsh Tract in Pennsylvania. The land was subsequently sold to Thomas Taylor (500 a.). John Roberts (500 a.) John Roberts a mill wright, age 60 from Pen y Clwyd, Denbighshire who erected the first gritz mill 1683 in the Province of Pennsylvania. He m. /Elizabeth Owens , age 16 d/o. Treial Reider, (400 a.. Mary Fouk __,(200 a.). Owen Parry, (150 a.)=. and reserved 500 a. to himself.
In 1961 my brothers and I puchased 1/2 acre of land near Cuchara, Colorado from Owen Parry (not the same one). My G.Aunt, Hannah Williams, sister of William E. Williams, m. Joseph Roberts s/o William Roberts and Esther Williams (not the famous swimmer) Jane Roberts m. William E. Hughes. Jane was a sister of Eunice Roberts who m. William E. Williams, my G. grandfather, b. Denbigh 1833 who immigrated to Wisconsin 1869. With such names it's dificult to trace my Welsh ancestors. Small world stuff.
