From late December 1763 this fellow commanded the sloop CHALEUR in the Royal Navy from Halifax, NS to the West Indies, and then in late 1768 took her to England where she was surveyed at the Woolwich Dockyard, condemned and sold out of the service. Seeking anyone who might have preserved correspondence from the Lieutenant from that point in his career - particularly, any letters which may have contained a description of the sloop when he first saw her, about June of 1764. I recently examined her last logbooks at the National Archives in Kew, UK but they are from the end of her career. Any assistance or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. I am a maritime historian and ship model maker and intend to make a very accurate scale model of CHALEUR. Please reply also to my personal email as I do not frequent this site.
