Mary Heal married Richard Bevan in the September qt 1866, which was registered in Swansea. In 1881 John H Heal aged 19 was described as step-son, so therefore was not Richard’s child. Mary states she was 49 & born in Gower.
There is a John Henry Heal at Cock Street, Swansea in 1871, described as grandson to John Rees, a widowed farmer aged 69. John Henry Heal birth was registered in Swansea in the December qt 1861 (Vol 11a, page 472).
A Mary Rees married a John Staple Heal in the December qt 1859, which was registered in Gower. I haven’t found a death for John, but it might have been at war in another country for instance.
The only sure way to find out John’s father was is to but a copy of the birth certificate.
